Weather

Great Britain is an island and has a varied weather pattern greatly influenced by the seas around it.

The weather is very unpredictable and a lot of people carry their umbrellas with them throughout the year even if it appears to be a sunny day. People often tune in to the weather channels to find out if it would rain the next day so that they can plan their day.

Summer temperatures rarely exceed 30 degrees Celsius and winter temperatures during night are in the region of 0 degrees Celsius. It can sometimes feel colder than it actually is because of the cold winds.

Daylight - In winter, the days are very short. The sun rises after 8 AM and sets before 4 PM. In summer, the days are quite long. The sun rises at 4:30 AM and sets at 9:30 PM. The day and night times are further extended in Scotland than in England.

Time Zones
UK's standard time zone is GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). However, during summer, the time zone is British Summer Time ( BST) which is GMT + 1. This is done for dayight savings. Clocks are put forward by 1 hour in the early hours of the last Sunday in March and put back by 1 hour in the early hours of the last Sunday in October.
